Gravity separators are used to separate similar sized products with differing densities. They are typically used in applications where the products has been processed through conventional
screen cleaners, and the particle size of the product is uniform, but there is foreign material, or damaged kernels still present in the product. The gravity separator then separates the products, based on their density, and will typically give three separations from the product being processed, being a) Heavier particles (stones, metal etc) b) The correctly weighted product and c) The light product (insect damaged seeds, rotten seeds, bran, stalks etc) The efficiency of the machine can be adjusted depending on the type of product being processed, and the capacity required, by adjusting a) The angle of the shaking table b) The total airflow c) The sizes of the screens on the shaking table and d) The specific airflow over certain areas of the table. By correctly adjusting the above variables, a wide variety of similar sized, free flowing granular products can be sorted.
