Stone mill attachment for Universal Mill

Description

The stone mill, or sometimes referred to as a grist mill attachments for the Universal Mill is mainly used for grains and spices to a fine consistency, while maintaining colour and nutritional value of the milled product, due to cool milling, and due to the stone being able to mill down the entire product being fed to it. The Universal Mill Stone Mill attachment uses 2 x 280mm diameter mill stones.

Mill stones use burr stones to mill the product instead of steel roller, and they run at a much lower speed than hammer mills, plate mills or pin mills – thus preserving the nutrients and the flavours of the product being milled.

Stones are manufactured from a composite of natural materials – with flint being the main element in the composite. All of our stones are manufactured by our Danish sister company, Engsko A/S – who is one of the largest manufacturers of milling stones in the world.

The end particle result is determined by how close the stones are set together – by using the easy spacing adjustments wheel on the Universal Mill.

Stone milling have been used by people across the worlds for centuries – if not millennia – and is still one of the most trusted methods for grinding down grains and spices.

Raw material is fed into the stone mill, via a hopper on the Universal mill, with an outlet that can be precisely set and held, to maintain optimal output and end product.

The product exits the milling attachment by centrifugal force, and is discharged from the bottom outlet of the Universal Mill cover for collection and further processing/sifting if required

Typical results from the stone mill attachment – milling whole WM1 white maize on a Universal Mill with an 11KW 380V electric motor were as follows
